Hi, vgoudreault-XzQKRVe1yT0V+D8aMU/[email protected] (2005-11-12 at 1645.38 -0500): > I was advised to make my scene smaller, which is not that easy > to do, given this is a SPACE scene, with lots of space ships > that need ot have some distance between them (it is space, > so you have to show some) but with one object in the foreground. Blender is a tool to create animations or stills where what matters is the final visual result and all kind of faking tricks are OK, not a CAD program where precission matters even if that means slow processing. So you have to apply the methods used for animations. One of those methods is compositing. If you have three groups of objects, lets say a planet, some middle space ships and some foreground space ships, you render each separate, and merge them with a 2d tool (Blender has sequencer for that, but you can always use any other raster or video tool). This also has another adventages, as things that do not change can be rendered once and reused. Also if they perform a motion that can be faked by moving the result in 2D, you adjust that instead of rendering again. If you look in DVD extras or any videos about how movies are made, you will find this is the norm. 3D computer graphics have more tricks than magician's equipment. > Interested parties can check the status of bug report 3386 at > http://projects.blender.org/tracker/?func=detail&atid=125&aid=3386&group_id=9 Checked myself, the yellow thing (name is not useful at all) seems to render fine with ClipStart 100 ClipEnd 500. Or taking another scale (divide all by 100) where you can make the ranges work. Mostly some of the ideas in the second reply. But I hope you get the idea: compositing. It solves these limitations and can be even used to save time. Why I do not know is why a crash bug was closed. Except if the crash is due working with a computer with 256MB and a file of 45MB (no idea). GSR ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Get Bzzzy!
