Re: Starting out

Well congratulations on finding one of the best open source programs 
in the world. I still feel that way even though like you I feel its 
frustrating at  times.

I have been using blender for 5 years now and I still feel like a 
newbie. Part of the problem (my opinion only) is its european origin. 
Many of the top programmers of blender and of plugins for blender are 
not native english speakers. What I find most difficult is trying to 
read some of the documentation and trying not to understand the 
program but to understand what the author of the document/tutorial is 
saying.

The other part of that is that this program is inherently visual. 
Some people forget that when you are explaining things in words on a 
page or on the net that you need to paint a picture of with words.

I come from a generation where we did not have computers or the 
internet readily availible. So we HAD to be able to describe and 
write clearly and distinctly.

Back to your original question. I would help to know which version of 
blender you are using and for what operating system. The user 
interface changed significantly from 2.25 to 2.3. You might be 
reading tutorials or documentation from the older version.
