When i started in blender, that was my first book. Although some of the information and tutorials are dated, it is very helpful for beginners. The book is fairly large, and deep, and it covers every area of rendering and animation you could want but for some more complex techniques your going to want to look for online tutorials.

I apologize if this has been answered recently. Yahoogroups is
telling me the group (many of them, not just Blender) is
unavailable right now.

I'm looking for recommendations for a book that is good for a
beginner who wants to learn Blender. I want to use Blender for sci
fi fan films. No game programming.

Is the Official Blender 2.3 Guide the book of choice?
