Blender Player Segfault

When I attempt to launch the blender player (2.41 and 2.40) on Linux
(SUSE Linux 10.0), I get the following output:

Detected GL_ARB_texture_env_combine
Detected GL_ARB_texture_cube_map
Segmentation fault

If I load it up in gdb and run it, I see the following in the backtrace:

(gdb) bt
#0  0x00000000 in ?? ()
#1  0x0822acdf in bgl::QueryVersion ()
#2  0x0822a144 in bgl::InitExtensions ()
#3  0x080eaa20 in GPG_Application::initEngine ()
#4  0x080ea6d8 in GPG_Application::startWindow ()
#5  0x080e9403 in main ()

It *looks* like what's happening is that it's faulting trying to read my
OpenGL version. I get a similar segfault if I try to run the player from
within Blender.

I'm using an ATI video card in an IBM Thinkpad T42p with ATI's
closed-source drivers. Other OpenGL applications seem to run fine.

Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this or what other information
might be of use to resolve this issue?
