SUSE 10.0 Install: Put DVD in drive and boot from it. Follow the
guided installation steps. Remove DVD and reboot.

SUSE 10's installation is about as easy as Windows these days. The only
thing that might take a little handholding is if your video driver isn't
included on disc (like it wasn't for my Thinkpad - I had to download and
run an installation program from ATI.)

Not to degenerate the discussion into a Linux vs. OSX vs. Windows
discussion, but *most* of those who say that Linux is difficult to learn
haven't tried it recently. My wife is not a computer expert, and she uses
Linux every single day and almost never needs help accomplishing what
she's looking to do. I spend more time helping my mom figure out how to
do things in Windows.
