Mind you, my Linux is a different distribution (Fedora) so I cannot vouch for the SuSE. But there are a few things you can look for. Do you have other applications running in the background? The "ps" command will list those, see if any is capturing a sizable portion of the CPU and/or memory. Also at the moment you installed Linux, did you define and size a swap space about 1/2 of your RAM memory? Finally, you may check if Blender is running at too low a priority (that is a long shot, I never recall having to renice a process to get adequate response time under Linux -- on a large, multi user UNIX server, yes, but not on a stand-alone computer). If you still cannot find anything, perhaps you should try running some benchmark program and assess if the performance of those is the same under Linux as Windows. If you are losing performance on a benchmark program, you may have to try your luck with a Linux forum, you will find real experts who are extremely helpful there.
