What I mean to do is to take extruded text and "tape" it horizontally around a cylinder ( as in 'your name' printed horizontally on a coffee cup). The problem with extruding the text mesh and then using boolean operations with two concentric cylinders is that the text will be distorted the further from center you go. I may sound complicated, but visualize writing text on a strip of paper, then covering with tape and wrap it around the cylinder horizontally.
