Good idea. To bring everyone into the loop, the CinePaint Debian 
packaging team has been hashing out who's doing what and why off-list.

Status is Jonas is waiting for a release tarball from me to proceed to 
the next step. My intention is to make that release this month.

Without presuming to speak for anyone, here's what I think the CinePaint 
Debian team is doing:

Robin: Organize and delegate, follow through
Jonas: Lead Debian packaging, but busy and may not respond promptly
Lars: Lead Ubuntu packaging, help with Debian packaging as needed
Daniel: Will try to help as needed
Teoh: Will try to help as needed

It's great you're inviting discussion. However, consensus is 
unnecessary. It's not majority rules here. CinePaint is a republic, not 
a democracy. Leaders emerge who decide how to implement. And, parallel 
solutions are encouraged. For example, we don't want consensus on 
whether Autotools, CMake or Scons is our build system. We want all three.

I recently participated in Ubuntu FOSScamp, the upstream pow-wow tied to 
UDS and the next release of Ubuntu. It would be helpful to me to be in 
sync, to be able to frame discussion to a common timeline.

Yes, I'm writing Perl code to automate replicating posting to the list 
when I post to the blog and to update the website.
