One way to determine the profile version is to use the exiftool
utility:

http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/%7Ephil/exiftool/

It is also available as an Ubuntu package:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/

Just find a profile and do this:

exiftool profile.icm

As an example, here is the output from one of my own profiles:

[.color]# exiftool sRGB_v4.icm
ExifTool Version Number : 7.13
File Name : sRGB_v4.icm
Directory : .
File Size : 60 kB
File Modification Date/Time : 2007:11:04 01:08:14
File Type : ICC
MIME Type : application/unknown
Profile CMM Type :
Profile Version : 4.2.0

Here, the profile version is 4.2.0.

But if the profile version is causing problems, you should
be able to test this by turning off color management:

File --> Preferences --> Color Management

Also uncheck the "Convert to Wide Gamut" in the
rawphoto plugin ddialog.

Then try to open a file in cinepaint.
