It has been demonstrated that OpenMP is an effective and portable way to accelerate image processing code. It does not rule out additional hardware-specific enhancements based on a "GPU". How can it not make sense to discuss using it on the CinePaint (an image processing/editing package) list? I don't even know what these Wikis are ...
