There may be a key/button combination I am not aware of, but if you end the curve close enough to where you started it, it will close itself. It has been quite good at guessing whether I want to close it or continue. In comparison, it became more difficult to control in the recent gimps: you have to hit the starting point spot-on to close the curve. At any rate, if you miss the first time, continue in any direction, return, and try again. I that results in any loops, you can correct them later (ctr-select or shift-select), but that is much easier than discarding your selection and doing it again. The curve in Cinepaint will twitch in a strange way when you complete it.
