[CinePaint] Cinepaint 1.3 does not find its plugins

Hi all,

I downloaded, compiled and installed cinepaint 1.3. The compilation
and installation went through without errors but when cinepaint
starts, I get the following messages (among others) in the terminal:

Searching plug-ins in path: (null)
plugin count = 0

cinepaint: Can not open temp directory (null) to clear temp files
cinepaint: Can not open temp directory (null) to clear temp files

It seems a path or paths in the default installation is (are) not set
correctly - anyone have a suggestion how to fix this?
