As a long-term Linux user I'm investigating how best to post process raw
files from my DSLR and am tending towards a dcraw/ufraw/CinePaint work
flow. However, since this area is rather new to me (I've worked with
JPGs/Gimp until now), I've been gathering opinions on dpreview of
current options (see
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1019&thread=22461606).
The latest response on what CinePaint is missing w.r.t. BibblePro made
me pause. Let me quote:
"haven't used Cinepaint for a year or so since I swiched over from
Linux to OSX but unless a bunch of significant changes have been
made to cinepaint in 0.01 of a revision then I'd say you would be
missing...
Non destructive editing/copying of settings between files
Work queues/Output queues/Batch processing
IPTC/EXIF editing
Lens Correction via PTLens
Integrated Noise Ninja
Perfectly Clear
Plugins including Black and White conversion, skin tone correction,
perspective correction and many more.
Background processing with multiple core/processor support
Probably the fastest RAW conversion engine
DNG support
and remember that all these tools are functioning in one step along
with the heal tool and all the others"
Would these comments represent a fair assessment of the current
disadvantages of CinePaint/dcraw for postprocessing of DSLR raw images?
