I'd think such is done with the clone tool, where the painter clones from 
a area in a previous or later frame and paints this to the current frame. 
Just one must be carful to change the source position as a new frame is 
selected to avoid ghosting effects. 
I dont know about automated tools, even though they are well imaginable.

Robin may correct me, as he knows better about studio usage.
