[CinePaint] Select Tool Options

I am somewhat confused by the differences between the Tool-Options that
I was used to in GIMP and in CinePaint.

I use the 'Magic Wand' Select tool extensively and the threshold value
appears by default to be set very low (0.002). With this setting I
appear to not be able to select anything.

Is there any form of examples or manual out there?

Some hand holding would be appreciated.
