Kai-Uwe's email suggested I run "ldd /usr/local/bin/cinepaint" which I did.

It printed out that "libcinepaint.so.0" could not be found - even
though it was in /usr/local/lib.

After I ran ldconfig as root, I ran "ldd /usr/local/bin/cinepaint"
again.

This time there were no missing .so file complaints.

Thanks again Kau-Uwe and Milan for your help.

W.
