Thanks for reply - This happens running as user.

Just tried running cinepaint as root

installed ok
starting cinepaint still gives:

Oryanos cannot find display ICC profile.  Using sRGB instead

cinepaint running:
Selecting preferences -ok
input icc path -ok
untick oryanos -ok
open list of profiles -ok

open list of profiles again - cinepaint hangs, windows go blank
- in the console the message:
r-x/share/color/icccinepaint terminated: sigabrt caught
