Radeon Mobility X1400

I have a T60 labtop with a Radeon Mobility X1400 videocard. Currently the 
free radeon driver (Driver "radeon" in the xorg.conf) doesn't recognize 
the board. Is there any chance it will do that soon?
Is X1400 similar enough to some other card that I can simply hack the 
driver to believe it is that other card and run with that?

I am right now using the propriatary driver since the default vesa 
driver doesn't have multihead support but it is unstable and I don't 
like how the the multihead support works.
