It might be a drm issue, but it's probably just the openchrome 
driver not taking the peculiarities of the P4M890 into account, 
thus driving it wrong and locking it up.

That's because then the openchrome driver cannot do the wrong thing.  
The fault is in the openchrome driver, not in the dri/drm stuff.
