Any reason you are using such an old kernel? Debian testing should have something newer, or at least in Debian unstable (which I run myself). Make sure you upgrade all xorg and mesa packages as well. Even Debian experimental might be worth it, what's stable and released elsewhere is called experimental in Debian :) If you try AGP again, make sure you don't enable FastWrites.
