hi 2 all,

i just read about head up displays becomming trendy in near future:

[german]

actually it's already since some time that laptops to me seem like a lot of senseless load. mainly the display and it's requirements are the crucial point in causing this statement.

first i thought of throwing away the battery stuff and build 2 19" display in a samsonite aluminum case, capable to be used in portrait format. still this is not really a solution, it's far too costy and easy to break - useless.

head up displays, when used in cars, will become low prized, for sure lower priced than any tft or similar. i have seen the first 3d display from taiwan back in spring 2002, displaying 3d images on windows os and would think that the fabs are ready to produce bigger numbers in near future, making 3d technology really cheap.

now i don't like m$ and just love using linux. i have a vision of a keyboard with an attached mouse[if at all ;-)] homing cpu, ram, grafix, net etc. no display instead i just wear some half-transparent glasses. the work screen will have to be synched with the direction the coder is looking to, with this enabling software to build a working area of 360° x 360°. do you follow me? the entire room is your working space, not to display virtual reality stuff but email interface, shell, browser, video, filesystems etc.

this means that a lot of things will have to be programmed again, fast. this means that a whatever base library will have to be used to become standard, i hope it is not m$ who will claim this its property. i am not a grafix coder, but as far as i see fresco could help to do this job.

now the linux kernel is nice thing. i actually don't like all the programming languages existing right now, i think a high ammount of languages makes a system vulnerable. i think c[++] and python would completely suffice and with this describe what kind of computer i would dream of:
linux kernel, 3d library accesible with python.

what do you think?

regardz
