We could argue wether the linux kernel really is the best there is (but
please, let's not do it here!), Fresco is not really/only a 3D library
but it is accessible via python (and C++ and a couple of other
languages). I don't see any reason why Fresco shouldn't run in an
environment you are envisioning.o feel free to hel pus improve Fresco to
a point where it can be used in a non-demo sort of way;-) I doubt that
you will find a closer match to what you have in mind (there's 3Dwm but it
is going even slower than we do and we share huge parts of the architecture
anyway).
