Ah, I can see what you're saying.  I'm not convinced, though, largely
because 1) there are component technologies that have been used with
at least somewhat successful; certainly Windows, KDE, GNOME, and
Mozilla are examples of this, and 2) you don't give any examples of
open-source projects "forever forking" in response to such
technologies; in fact, I'm not familiar with any such cases at all.
By way of a tip, I think we'd find your extremely general claims more
compelling if you also provided some sort of examples or data.

Well, if you're trying to convince your managers to let you work on
Fresco, by all means, we're short on coders.  But again, you have to
be more concrete -- nobody's going to change their license in the face
of vague claims about "politeness to business" and all the rest, but
if you can make a concrete and credible case for why a license change
would help convince your company to help us write open code, we'd be
at least willing to listen.  It still seems to me as if most of your
objection to the LGPL was based on confusion about what Fresco's code
actually does.
