Thanks Mourad, yes things are clearer.  I'm not too familiar with ACE
or Fresco yet, and have just expressed a generalized attitude that the
component technologies of the past have never have cut it in the real
world, which is adequately proven (to me at least) by open-source projects
forever forking among themselves in the face of these technologies.
I won't risk saying more now that I am branded irrational and insane and
all that.

About the LGPL, I've had my say, but a word about motivation. Mine is not
philosophical at all; it's practical.  I've already mentioned attracting
developers.  Let me be more down-to-earth.  I want to convince my managers
to *pay me* to support cool open source projects.  Right licensing enables
me to do that, which is good for me, good for business, and good for open
source.
