miniDV over firewire input

hi,

is somebody planning or working on a module which
implements the libdc1394 for firewire dv videocameras (because
they are not compatible or supported to the v4l system...)
on linux? I tried to get my miniDV-Cam running, but didn't
succeed, so I'm planning to write a module if there are
no other solutions around...
