Please tell me what you refer to here, and I'll try to make it more
up-to-date.

As far as I know, that's then because there never has been makefiles
for MSVC in some of the directories. Can you tell where you didn't
find makefiles? (You did notice that the makefile.msc and
makefile.mingw in the "plug-ins" directory is to be used for building
the plug-ins?)
