Peter, Reading ahead, "GIMP's new color management" seems to be the consensus explanation. I'm wondering, though, if the same color contrast exists when the images are displayed full scale by both programs, noticing that your GIMP image at least is being seen at 25% of normal size. Different scaling sampling convolution matrix constants is another possible reason the colors might differ. xanthian. Here is an example of one jpg from my camera, opened in Irfanview and also in the Gimp: http://pbluke.googlepages.com/gimpsample Notice that the Gimp image is a lot darker. Both images have not been altered. Any thoughts as to why this would happen?
