GimpVS built for 2008 doesn't work on my Vista machine.
However, GimpVS built for VS 2005 do work fine.

Oh I just realized
That  no 2.4.3 win32 binaries are available
Some users consider RC1J VS 2005 to be stable
enough for there needs , and it is built against
2.4.3 source code :

Another main advantage is that the implementation
choice lets you install GIMPVS with no adaminastrator
privileges : we can all elevate access privileges on computers
at home, thats not the case everyday eveywhere.

We are testting the RC1K on Vista X64 (assuming x86 will
work , we will later set up a Vista x86 machine)

We don't rely on side by side assemblies when deploying applications
and deploy application in a way you don't need to "elevate access 
privileges"

The Gimp official model should require a side - by -side deployement
model (yes developping on Windows is not straigtht forward)
and hence require administrative rights to install when these
runtimes are not already installed :)

Fotocomix , The Mozilla Foundation has to face this problem too.

Tor : these are no bugs in Gimp
we find daily:
we find very rarely bugs when software isn't our own
(in that case we see only bugs :)

Our Full (but distutils yet -for specialists only-  )
Python PYTHONVS (enabling GIMPVS to
use python) distribution follows the same paradigm,

I would suggest you to give GIMPVS 2005 RC1J a try , its free
and we reduced the download size by a two factor. (approx 14 Mo)
and report bug on the bug tracker : it is free open

Feel free to give GIMPVS a try , we use it at home
and plan to use 1.1 anywhere !
