We are proud to announce the availability of GraphicsMagick 1.0 Beta1.
GraphicsMagick 1.0 Beta1 has these user-visible changes since the
Beta0 release:
* gm montage works again (it was totally broken in Beta0), and we
have added a test to prove that it is working.
* The ConstituteImage and DispatchImage functions were broken in
various ways. These functions are now working perfectly, and we
have added a comprehensive test to prove it.
* Built-in tilde expansion and file globbing (wildcarding) are now
working correctly. For example "miff:~user/myfile.miff" and
"tiff:subdir/foo*" should work as expected. For those who are
not aware, the built in file globbing can be used to work around
operating system command line length limits. Directory globbing
("subdir/foo*/bar*.???") is not yet supported. Using a subrange
specification ("foo.miff[2-5]") currently de-activates globbing.
* Signal handlers are added to InitializeMagick which invoke
DestroyMagick (cleaning up resources) if the user aborts the
program via CONTROL-C or some other signal. The signals
SIGHUP, SIGINT, SIGQUIT, SIGABRT, SIGTERM, SIGXCPU, & SIGXFSZ
are registered. If your program uses these signals, then it
should perform its own signal mappings *after* invoking
InitializeMagick and arrange to reliably call DestroyMagick
itself. This puts a lid on the most common reason for leaked
temporary files.
* Bugfixes to new -ordered-dither and -random-threshold options.
* A utilities demo (similar to the PerlMagick and Magick++ demo's)
has been added under the utilities subdirectory and may be
invoked via 'make check'.
GraphicsMagick 1.0 Beta1 is released in order to obtain user feedback
prior to the final release. GraphicsMagick 1.0 Beta1 passes 100% of
its tests when compiled for Q:8, Q:16, and Q:32 quantum depths, on all
operating environments and CPUs which are available to us.
