Development GraphicsMagick Status

Development GraphicsMagick continues to forge ahead.  While 
development is done on the CVS HEAD branch, I expect to copy CVS HEAD 
improvements to the 1.3 branch to form the 1.3.6 release.  Since 
GraphicsMagick tends to release slowly, the intention of this email is 
to reassure that GraphicsMagick continues to progress, and to 
encourage people to test the snapshot (or CVS HEAD) version of 
GraphicsMagick.

There is now a -recolor option which is similar to the one in 
ImageMagick, yet different in that it is compliant with Adobe Flash 
colorMatrixFilter() and Windows GDI+ ColorMatrix.  Please test this 
and make us aware of any defects.

John Sergeant has contributed a CALS type 1 reader and a vastly 
improved HP PCL driver. The HP PCL driver is so much improved that PCL 
is a good choice for printers that support both PCL and Postscript.

Pavel Merdin contributed a patch for -resize so that it works better 
for transparent images (no more halos!).

Jaroslav Fojtik is working to make it possible for GraphicsMagick to 
read the TXT files that it wrote, as well as continuing to support 
rendering ASCII text to an image as before.  Jaroslav also contributed 
a reader for HRZ Slow scan TV format.

PDF files are no longer sometimes improperly cropped while being read.

There is now a PHP wrapper for GraphicsMagick.  It is called 'gmagick' 
and is in its first alpha release.  Please try it and report any bugs 
to its developers.  See http://pecl.php.net/package/gmagick for info.

Thus far only one bug has been reported (is fixed) which was added 
during the GM 1.3 re-write for OpenMP, and was not related to 
multi-threading.  The stability of GM 1.3 is quite encouraging.
