At one time (and maybe even now) it would have been easy to update the JMagick interface to work with GraphicsMagick. I have been on the JMagick list for many years, providing assistance, with the hope that good public relations would help inspire someone to do the work, but that did not happen. As far as I can tell, JMagick is mostly using APIs which are now deprecated in ImageMagick (but mostly still exist in GraphicsMagick). There is a Java wrapper available which works with both ImageMagick and GraphicsMagick but by executing the external utility.
