Experts have told me that there are situations that if the EXIF is 
simply preserved that using applications may malfunction or crash.  I 
assume that your idea is to write the EXIF to a separate file and then 
reload it so that EXIF attributes may be accessed is if the EXIF was 
in the file.

If "-profile" refuses to load an EXIF profile, then that does sound 
like a bug to me.  It should be easy to fix.

I mean performing the configure/build similar to how the SRPM does it. 
That way build options can be easily tweaked to see what works.  I am 
most curious to know if using --with-included-ltdl "fixes" the module 
loading.
