From working a lot in Photoshop, with colorapped images that always have just a 1 bit transparency mask, I never considered the possibility for Tiffs. I've been doing more video compositing work lately with colormapped images, so I'm interested in this. Is the problem just that saving colormapped associated-alpha tiffs will be lossy... or that you are trying to implement the specs without changing how the API works for existing users or files?
