This looks pretty confusing from an > outsider's point of view... There are basically two bodies of code in hdot264. The first is a VfW codec that can be used by Windows applications like Virtual Dub. It may be found in hdot264/v2. The second is an excellent C++ framework for an entirely new codec. This is openhdot264. I have been working on hdot264/v2 so I'll give an overview of its structure. It uses xvid code for the VfW API interface and for colorspace conversion. Encoding and decoding functions are performed by the JM reference code with minimal modications (so that updates to the latest JM code can be made easily). There is a small amount of original code to bind it all together including a generic simple codec API that sits between the JM code and xvid. This code (and hopefully all new hdot264 code) is triple licensed under GPL/LGPL/MPL for maximum adoption. hdot264/hdot264/v2/xvidcore - xvid colorspace code hdot264/hdot264/v2/vfw - xvid VfW wrapper hdot264/hdot264/v2/jm/JM - current JM73 with minimum modifications hdot264/hdot264/v2/hdot264enc_dll - separate DLL for encoder (because lencod and ldecod use same global variable and function names). I'm currently working on making the hdot264 VfW codec bug free (if very slow). The next step is to write an optimized decoder based on the openhdot264 code (with same codec API as used by the JM-based codec). We'd start with I-frames only using the minimum set of H.264 tools (baseline or less if that's possible). Can anyone help me by posting an encoder.cfg file that selects only the most basic tools? With this we can generate some AVI files to work with. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
