Based on the previous message, I think he is using HDV. Therefore: $ dvgrab -f hdv [options] <basename> - | ffplay -f mpegts - You might want to reduce the size of the ffplay window: $ dvgrab -f hdv [options] <basename> - | ffplay -f mpegts -x 640 -y 360 - Distortions you see in the monitor are not necessarily in the capture file. The above assume you want to capture at the same time as monitoring.
