hi all, was hoping for some advice, please.
I'm looking to upgrade my camcorder, to the Canon HV40.
I'm wondering whether to get the PAL or NTSC versions (I am in the UK),
and I wanted to ask:
Does kino/dvgrab have any preference for any of the various HDV formats
used by the two models?
The tapes are (apparently) written as:
PAL model - 50i only
50i
50i - 25p PsF
NTSC model - both 60i & 24p
60i
60i - 24p PsF # not ideal because of telecine pulldown
24p - native
The 24p native mode of the NTSC model looks interesting, but not if
kino/dvgrab can't work with it, of course.
Does Kino work with the PsF formats? Does 24p native have any big
advantage (or otherwise) over 25p PsF?
Any issues here I should be aware of, wrt my dvgrab/kino workflow?
thanks much indeed for any comments.
best regards,
calum.
PS - I'm assuming that my LCD TV doesn't much care, as it supports 50i,
60i & 24p input.
