kino is deleting the output files when the Other menu is used. ???

I just imported an 8.8GB movie of my milling machine fixing a starter from an
antique diesel powered Oldmobile, from my camera, then tried to export it as 
an
.avi and got the Bruces-starter-nose005.avi file below.

The first 3 Bruce-* were the imports, broken because a mouse wheel event
will terminate a capture, IMO it shouldn't but that's me)

The 4th one apparently was made when I did an export of only the 3rd, not
having the 'all' selected.  I assume it can be deleted and all further files
regenerated from the first 3, which is all that is showing in the left window
of the editor.

But, when I tried to use FFMPEG to create a file to be used with dvdauthor, 
still with only the 3 files 'loaded' using the Export->Other menu with
DGVD-Dual-pass (FFMPEG) selected and the VOB profile,
part way through the export, I could see the *0.log, .ac3, and .m2v files as
shown here in the first ls -l's output, done while that export was in 
progress.

So how do I export a file I can feed to dvdauthor to make a burnable dvd 
image.
I did this before for some neighborhood weddings, but don't recall how I did
it then after 2+ very busy years.

Help please?
