Hm, I tried rendering the .mov file to raw DV using Kdenlive, but I
still get a rather choppy result -- even though Kdenlive didn't come up
with any warnings or error messages. It isn't quite as bad a Kino's
rendering, but it's unusable all the same.

Is there perhaps a recent CLI tool for properly transcoding this H.264
beastie to a more open format, so that I get to see exactly what's going
on? Sorry if I sound terribly uninformed, but I have no experience with
HD content whatsoever.
