+100 Martin.  Kino, as the all in one, just works if you build your own.  I 
haven't even had the crashes you mentioned with 1.34.  I haven't figured out 
how the new one (kdenlive) works at all as it didn't import from my camera, 
not even a menu item for it the last time I looked.
