re "community would continue the project." There is a major lack of
developers - Stefan can attest to that. Then, in video editing area,
there has been a considerable lack of collaboration. I only started
helping Kino because Cinelerra (then, Broadcast 2000) developer did
not respond to me. At least more recently there is some decent
collaboration in certain areas such as FFmpeg, LADSPA, frei0r, MLT,
and gstreamer. While I discourage growing Kino, it would be nice if
someone can address bugs.

There have been other indicators including a standard response to bug
submissions and lack of activity.

If people want something on the simple side then consider OpenShot or
PiTiVi. The next releases that will be in Lucid should be quite
decent. Of course, you may still need Kino or dvgrab to capture.
