Ah, true... I was thinking out loud mainly from the process I use for 
editing sequences of animation -- render my scenes to sequences of 
high-res TIFF or Targa, transcode to DV and import into Kino, build my 
playlist and then export as needed for DVD or onto miniDV or whatever.
