I'm afraid I'm going to miss that meeting, which is a shame as it sounds 
very interesting. We're working on a native 64-bit Linux desktop 
distribution for the creative industries ( http://64studio.com/ ) and 
the video editing side of things is far from resolved. So far we've been 
unable to find a free software video editor that we could package and 
distribute so that it works 'out of the box' without running into the 
software patents issue.

The best compromise that we've found so far is PiTiVi, because it is 
designed to be used with GStreamer plugins. Fluendo is planning to make 
legally distributable Gstreamer plugins available for the proprietary 
formats. However PiTiVi is still an early alpha and can't actually do 
editing yet.

I agree with Salsaman that developers are spread too thinly over the 
various video projects. Nevertheless, we want to support video tool 
development with our packaging and integration work.
