Command line quicktime movie making

Hello there.
For ages I have been trying to find a way of making uncompressed quicktime
movies from the command line. I had a go at compiling quicktime4linux but
never got it to compile. Has anybody done this and can anybody help? I am
not even sure if that is the right way to go
