End of life doesn't mean dead, it just means they dropped the price on
it and they won't be doing any new development. Hopefully they'll be
supporting it and providing bug fixes for a while.

End of life allows the developers to put the product in to maintenance
mode and not spend a lot of time and effort on it. Instead they can
start other projects without having to worry about cramming it in to an
old framework.

Shake just reached the point where it gets to be retired and a new
product gets to take its place some time in the (hopefully near) future.
