The USC film school should be on the top of the list to visit.  Drop me an 
email and I will give you some contact names.  I would consider extending 
your HD search past Avid as there are tons of products doing it for less with 
far more options.  If your looking solely at the Linux platform, Discreet is 
someone to look at while at NAB in addition to us (SpectSoft) and D2 ,They 
have a sweet compositor called Nuke.

Again if your looking to locate Linux workflows and solutions studios like 
Tippett, Blue Sky, Dreamwoks, PDI, Pixar, Disney, ILM, The Orphanage, Digital 
Domain, Rythym & Hues and many others are Heavy Linux based and can give you 
lots of insight. Several of them are at NAB but you might try contacting them 
direct for a visit.

At NAB we will be hosting a "All things Linux Meeting" which had a great turn 
out last year and several of the above studios attended, watch our website 
for information as April comes closer.
