Our latest film, MEET THE ROBINSONS, is in theaters now! We currently have an opening for a Manager of Technology, Systems to join the team at our Burbank, CA studio. The Manager, Systems will oversee multiple teams to provide core systems and networking infrastructure to the studio. This is a technical manager position requiring strong technical expertise and customer service skills, experience fostering vendor relationships, experience budgeting and planning for large facilities, project leadership experience and the proven ability to hire, train and mentor technical support personnel of all experience levels. This role will work closely with other technical management in Technical Support and Software Development groups in support of Feature Animation's technology strategies. The successful candidate will also develop strong working relationships with Production and Artistic leadership, fostering an environment of trust, creativity, collaboration and excellence. Duties: *Manage technical personnel in multiple teams with strong emphasis on core UNIX, Windows and Mac services, networking and data center facilities. *Design, implement and support core services such as LDAP, Active Directory, DNS, Email, SANs (EMC, Cisco), NAS Devices (NetApp, EMC) and central database servers. *Design, implement and support desktop management systems including Linux, Mac and Windows. *Responsible for staffing, training, team building and performance management. *Long range strategic forecasting, yearly budgets and other tasks as needed. Qualifications: *Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience. *5+ years experience in systems administration, network engineering and/or technical support, 2+ years in leadership or project management roles. *In depth knowledge of networking, Linux, Windows, OSX and core UNIX infrastructure. *Demonstrated ability to communicate intricate technical and procedural matters effectively to a wide audience (from the technical to the non-technical), and to interpret their needs and requirements in return. *Proven ability to detect and react to patterns and inefficiencies across a wide range of support and procurement calls. *Demonstrated ability to manage teams and meet deliverables in demanding timeframes. *Strong financial planning and project management skills required. *Proven ability to build and maintain positive vendor relationships. *Must have excellent people skills; must have effective and diplomatic communication skills. *Experience managing technical teams in Animation, Visual FX or Video Game production environments a plus. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and troubleshooting of broad, complex systems applications and core infrastructure solutions relating to data management and high performance computing for animated movie production. The Systems Engineer will work with Production and Technology on profiling of the production pipeline and performance tuning and as it relates to Data Services. This will include analysis of existing backup/restore, disaster recovery and archiving systems and identifying opportunities for process improvement. The Systems Engineer will also work with production, systems and outside vendors to design and implement a centralized image archive library based on Disney Animation requirements and best practices. Duties: *Design, implementation and troubleshooting of systems applications and core infrastructure solutions *Develops new specifications and strategies as needed to support a rapidly changing environment. *Works with technical managers & leads and production leads and oversees teams that implement solutions. *Sustains an overview of long-term requirements and maintains the long-term vision for systems and services that they have designed and supported. *Constantly monitors and adjusts strategy to take advantage of advancements in the industry. *Supports and helps to train personnel in new technological advancements. *Maintains/ensures system redundancy and reliability. *Act as Tier III support for all issues in their related fields. *Provides detailed technical specifications, timelines with deliverables and regular status reports to Manager & VP Systems.
