One of my other video-related obsessions is to produce a set of tools
that can be used on extremely low-end hardware, like the sort of thing
available in inner-city schools, and after that, the hardware available
in the Third World.

The main focus of my video-encoding is centered around physical items
(e.g. discs) that can be given to other people and played on the
commercial-grade hardware in their living room.

The Charles Poynton tome sounds like the one I want, though my local
bookstores probably won't have something that specialized.  Oh well,
I'll have to wait a few days.
