I feared that it would be that way, and I'd done something terrible wrong.

The DC30 has the same inputs. So your command worked without problems.

So I can confirm that your driver patch works.
And I would suggest that you try to get it into the next kernel release. 
I guess that a mail to Mauro Carvalho Chehab should start the thing.

Is the problem I had with the file: etc/modprobe.d/50-tv.conf
and the option i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1 a major problem ?
