For me, mjpegtools is what I've always used to do the final encode when
making DVDs.  I have a number of scripts I use to automate the process and
mjpegtools continues to work for me, so there's no real motivation to move
to some other program for this task.  It therefore continues to fulfil a  
useful function in my work flow at least.

I've never used the zoran side of mjpegtools so I can't comment on that side
of things.
