Google has updated its directory section with new ODP data recently, so =20 hopefully they will do this monthly now like they did it in the past. =20 The long pause was caused by UTF-8 incompatibility issues between ODP =20 and Google. Some of the relevant categories for MPEG-4 related sites =20 are: http://directory.google.com/Top/Science/Reference/Standards/=20 Individual_Standards/MPEG-4/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Multimedia/MPEG/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Multimedia/MPEG/DivX/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Multimedia/Digital_Video/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Multimedia/Music_and_Audio/=20 Audio_Formats/MPEG-4/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Broadcasting/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Protocols/RTSP/ Most of them also have software subcategories where you can submit your =20 site through the ODP interface if you wish to do so. It also provides a =20 category description with guidelines how to submit, e.g. which sites are = =20 on-topic in that category and which not. The Google version adds an =20 interesting page ranking to the different sites based on their own =20 methods while the ODP categories simply sort the URLs alphabetically =20 using their title. The ODP version always shows the current state =20 though, i.e. when a site is accepted by the editor, it will be listed =20 immediately, see e.g.: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Multimedia/Music_and_Audio/Audio_Formats/MPEG-=20 4/ ZZee ya, Hans-J=FCrgen _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss-wvgAS0I8NaWTm/[email protected] http://lists.mpegif.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss Note: Conduct on the mailing list is subject to the Antitrust guidelines = found at http://www.mpegif.org/public/documents/vault/mp-out-30042-Antitr= ust.php
